Season’s greetings fellow fotography buffs. December is here already and Christmas is just around the corner. I hope you’ve all written to Santa and asked for that new lens you have always wanted…

If you are into your star gazing (or just generally freezing you butt off in the middle of nowhere) then there is what promises to be a very good meteor shower in the next couple of weeks.

The last attempt at a metoer shower ended in this orange shot of a fence, thanks to the sky clouding over the moment I had set the camera up.

According to the EARTHSKY website, the best time to see the Geminid shower will be December 14th and 15th and you should get as far away from street lights as possible.
I’m considering a wee trip to Loch Turret to get higher up too.

Long shutter speeds and wide angle lenses are likely to be the order of the day in an attempt to photograph this event, but I’ll throw in a couple of shorter exposures and see what happens.

Lets hope the sky stays clear!

Perth was once again filled up with droves of people who had come out in the cold to see the yearly Strathearn Round Table firework display and bonfire. PK Perspective was there and we perched ourselves on the Queens bridge to capture the explosive delights on our Nikons.

Ian was shooting at iso 100, f7.1 and shutterspeed was guesswork!

and Sarah was shooting at ISO100 F8ish and putting shutter on and off as I just felt like it! Most of shootng fireworks is luck and trying to stay warm enough! and my God it was getting cold, winter is definately settling in. Oh and was using the wide lenswhich did mean a bit of cropping in so the fireworks didn’t look like tiny dots inthe distance, but well worth it as didn’t loose any high ones from the frame.
